New York City, NY	E-Cargo Bikes	The New York City Department of Transportation launched the Commercial Cargo Bicycle Pilot in 2019 to test the feasibility of formal commercial e-cargo bike regulations. The department sought to establish a regulatory environment that could sustain existing bike delivery operations while incentivizing new businesses to shift more of their deliveries to e-cargo bikes. Boston, MA	E-Cargo Bikes	Boston Delivers is a pilot project that promoted sustainable methods of making neighborhood deliveries for local businesses in Allston, Brighton, and the surrounding area. Instead of motor vehicles, packages were delivered by electric cargo bikes. The pilot intended to test the policy implications of using right-sized delivery vehicles in urban environments, generate societal co-benefits from an efficient and sustainable mode for goods movement, and share learnings. Los Angeles County, CA	Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (NEV)	It is the intent of the Legislature, in enacting this chapter, to authorize the County of Los Angeles or a city in the county to establish a neighborhood electric vehicle (NEV) transportation plan. The purpose of this NEV transportation plan is to further the vision of creating a sustainable region that reduces gasoline demand and vehicle emissions by offering a cleaner, more economical means of local transportation within the plan area. It is the further intent of the Legislature that this NEV transportation plan be designed and developed to best serve the functional travel needs of the community, to have the physical safety of the NEV driver’s person and property as a major planning component, and to have the capacity to accommodate NEV drivers of every legal age and range of skills.
